An established engineering and management company has a full-time opening for a Construction Inspector (CI) to support multiple construction contracts. Qualifications needed include relevant education and experience in construction performing various duties and services. Anticipated project assignments include new construction as well as repair of governmental buildings, utilities, hangars, shelters, maintenance facilities, office/administrative facilities, dining facilities, etc.
Construction Inspector will fill the role of Quality Assurance Representative (QAR) and shall have knowledge of building and construction crafts since three-phase inspections shall be made to verify that the specified workmanship is obtained as well as good written communication and organizational skills. QARs shall be at a minimum responsible for the following deliverables:
- Written QA report to document all activities observed for each on-site day in sufficient detail to support three-phase inspection system; review and analysis of construction contractor progress, testing, performance; and safety;
- Review of design, comment logging and back-checking; and progress payments; and
- Other related items.
Position requires good communication and computer skills and work ethics. Duties and responsibilities may include but not be limited to: reviews of design; engineering problem solving; construction quality control and quality assurance; oversight of construction contractor compliance; construction contract administration; planning and scheduling; coordination and liaison with the client and the public; coordination of RFI’s and change orders budget and cost control; monitoring site safety; maintaining daily logs; reviewing contractor logs.
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is required to frequently inspect the project and may be exposed to ongoing construction and various weather conditions. The noise level in the work environment may range from moderate to loud. This position is performed in outside weather conditions.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to sit, talk and hear. The employee is frequently required to use hands to finger, handle or feel. The employee is occasionally required to reach with hands and arms. The employee must be able to work in extreme weather and wear personal protective gear correctly most of the day.The employee must occasionally lift and move a minimum of 50 pounds.Specific vision abilities include close vision and color vision.
- Bachelor degree is preferred;
- Minimum 10 years of construction on-site inspection experience;
- Ability to pass security screening for Government facilities;
- Must be able to pass a drug test;
- Experience with federal DoD construction projects is a plus;
- Active Construction Quality Management for Contractors certification is a plus.
