Historic Site Analysis & Design

OLYMPUS DIGITAL CAMERABCE provided landscaping, drainage, utilities, and site improvements design for a well-known and highly visited Historic Site. The design incorporated original and historically accurate construction materials, as well as sustainable design. Use of locally mined and recycled materials was emphasized; new materials and features matched those used in the period. All work at the site had to be conducted with consideration of the archeological and historic significance, and coordinated with the state and local offices of Historic Preservation.Totem Park #6

Project also included evaluation and analysis of the existing seawall and the design of the structural improvements to the seawall and safety upgrades. BCE conducted a geotechnical investigation in order to assess the condition and life expectancy of the wall. A site survey was conducted, and BCE provided geotechnical recommendations, and a structural design for the seawall improvements that met current codes and improved safety.

BCE obtained all required permits, and coordinated the project with regulatory agencies. BCE prepared all design and construction documents, and provided construction administration and QA/QC inspections.

The design helped relieve the impacts of high tourist traffic, and provided beatification and enhancement of this key visitor location.
