Towers in Germany (US Army)

This project demonstrates BCE’s ability to conduct emergency services, and work on a very quick turn-around basis. The design was accomplished on a 24-hour notice, and executed in one week. BCE mobilized and conducted the tower inspections in Germany within 72 hours. This included obtaining security clearance to inspect the top-secret installation, the logistics of getting to the site in Germany, and conducting the inspection itself.

Services on this design-build project were provided per accelerated schedule as required by the client. BCE provided engineering required for installation of new communications systems on three existing towers and one new tower located in Germany. The work also included site inspections, coordination with radio and communication systems manufacturer, and the installer (contractor). Services involved design in accordance with US codes, as well as permitting and code compliance reviews required by the client, German, and EU governments. BCE provided evaluation of the existing facilities, modeling, analysis and design of the required modifications that met project requirements and specifications, construction administration, including on-site inspections, as-built drawings, and other related services.

The towers varied in height upward from 240 feet. BCE oversaw the installation of new equipment, reviewed field changes, and material substitution requests (due to material availability in Germany), provided inspections of the new installations.
