Value Engineering Study

13. New Seward VEBCE Team provided a design review, a workshop, an evaluation, cost estimating, life cycle cost analysis, final report, a presentation to the Client, as well as documented the implementation of the Value Engineering (VE) Study recommendations. This project addressed current and future travel demands and mobility needs for this highway through the year of 2035. The improvements will provide additional capacity, connectivity, and safety enhancements along the State of Alaska’s busiest highway and its most traveled section.  The VE Study goal was to evaluate the project during the preliminary (35 percent) design stage, and come up with a value analysis and recommendations for potential budget reduction by 25 to 30 percent.  The VE Study recommendations resulted in savings of approximately 30 percent of the $80+ million budget for this project.
